REVIVING THE HIGH STREET

Aired on Thursday 5th March 2026, 6:00PM
High streets are the backbone of our communities, yet everywhere they are under threat Oxford Street. King Street. Enmore Road. Darling Street. Crown Street. Military Rd. Most of our beloved high streets are also ancient Indigenous routes, so they’ve been around awhile. But now they’re threatened by shopping malls, car dominance, gentrification, pandemics and the current epidemic of online shopping. Architect and urbanist AMANDA REYNOLDS runs a London based practice, AR Urbanism and was a member of the UK’s High streets Task Force until its recent disbandment. Tonight, Amanda and Elizabeth take the temperature of Sydney high streets and ask how they’re doing, healthwise. LISTEN UP, LISTEN IN! 6pm Thursday 5th March 2026 Eastside Radio 89.7FM or eastsidefm.org
