Interning @ Eastside Radio

Hello! My name is Rose, a 21 year old recent graduate from Falmouth University and a new intern at Eastside Radio.

About me:

Since I’m from a small village in rural England, I learnt about the world through film, tv, radio and more which inspired me to pursue a career in the creative industries. Through studying Film at Falmouth University in Cornwall my passion for the arts grew and after graduating I searched for new opportunities to learn and develop my skills across media roles, especially opportunities that would allow me to travel the world!

Why Eastside Radio:

I chose to become an intern at Eastside Radio as I had always wanted to experience life in Australia, especially Sydney. I also chose Eastside Radio as the internship would allow me to explore a different role within the media industry.

While I’m here I hope to gain valuable skills and knowledge about the radio world whilst also building upon what I gained from my degree. I hope that being an intern will support my journey in the creative and media industries and take me forwards in my career.

Love of music:

I have always been an avid lover of music, my dad would have me jamming out in the car to the likes of The Foo Fighters, Led Zeppelin, Red Hot Chili Peppers and more since before I could walk. As I’ve gotten older my music taste has slightly shifted towards more upcoming female fronted bands and solo female artists but secretly I’ll always have a soft spot for the dad rock of my youth.

Some of my current favourite artists/bands are; Wolf Alice, The Last Dinner Party, Florence Road, Laufey, Raye, Sarah Kinsley, Pink Pantheress and Olivia Rodrigo. While I love each of their discographies if I had to recommend some songs it would be these;

  • Smile – Wolf Alice
  • Second Best – The Last Dinner Party
  • 7563 – Florence Road
  • Lonely Touch – Sarah Kinsley

I also have to recommend these songs that I currently have on repeat;

  • Ain’t In LA – Adela
  • Earrings – Malcolm Todd
  • brand new chanel$ – Slayyyter

Finally, I want to share one of my favourite quotes. Said by Anthony Bourdain I find it motivating especially in regards to travelling and trying new avenues/opportunities;

‘If I’m an advocate for anything, it’s to move. As far as you can, as much as you can. Across the ocean, or simply across the river. The extent to which you can walk in someone else’s shoes or at least eat their food, it’s a plus for everybody. Open your mind, get up off the couch, move.’ – Anthony Bourdain

I hope to embody this throughout my time here at Eastside Radio and I look forward to exploring everything Sydney has to offer!
