Jazz is an ‘omnium gatherum’: Especially as it has moved out in its diaspora from the USA, it has entered into relationships with other forms of music, including folk, pop, ‘world’, or ‘classical’ music. Between or Beyond explores these dimensions historically and in the present day. We feature distinctive jazz-related musics as they have been recorded in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia (and of course the Americas, too). We play music and examine some of the histories of how these musics came to be recorded.
